Tea Ceremony
The Chinese ritual of Gong Fu Cha is “making tea with skills”. To make anything with skills requires cultivating presence.
Gong Fu Cha is the internal art of cultivating the skills of presence and breath, so we can pour our presence into the dance of water and leaves and receive the wisdom of the tea.
Gong Fu Cha as a practice and way of preparing tea involves a journey of creating many successions of short concentrated infusions, where the leaves and buds of Camellia Sinensis are revealing flavors, aromas, story, and wisdom, slowly and progressively from cup to cup.
Each cup is an invitation to return our presence to the moment.
Through this practice, we will explore how to work with tea as a plant ally to cultivate The Way of wood, water, fire, earth, & metal within ourselves.
Each element of Nature is in relationship to specific emotions, meridians of the body, essential virtues, a season of nature, and a form of consciousness.
First, we will go over the elements of Nature together to help you select ONE ELEMENT you would like to cultivate more presence, awareness, and balance.
Choosing an element of nature will tell us which form of the Camellia Sinensis plant we are drinking (green, white, oxidized, aged & fermented, or flowers).
These types of tea are all from the same plant (Camellia Sinensis) just prepared in different forms, and each form of tea is rooted in one of the 5 Elements of Nature (Wood, Water, Fire, Earth, Metal).
We will then practice the art of Qigong to awaken that specific meridian of the body, and flow through the ritual of drinking Tea and Meditating on the elemental wisdom of nature within us.
Last we will close with space for your reflections wisdom to be shared.
